Mike Waltz leaves national security advisor role after Signal group chat scandal
US President Donald Trump has nominated Mike Waltz to become the US Ambassador to the United Nations.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio will assume the role of interim national security adviser.
Earlier, it was reported Mr Waltz was leaving his post in the White House over his involvement in the Signal group chat controversy.
