New Victorian government budget will continue to ‘add’ to state’s debt
CEO of E61 Institute Michael Brennan says the Victorian Labor government’s budget announcement today will become a “burden” for the taxpayer.
“If you rewind a few weeks, there was probably a point at which we felt this would be a course correction, that there was going to be something different about this budget,” Mr Brennan told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“In the end, that turned out not to be the case.
“The real issue for the Victorian government at the moment is debt.
“Debt is now the equivalent of 25 per cent of the economy.
“This budget continues to add to net debt.
“I think over time that is something that is going to continue to constrain the budget.”
