No ceasefire agreed in first direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine | ITV News
Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a large prisoner swap after their first direct peace talks since the early weeks of the 2022 invasion ended in under two hours on Friday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he discussed the outcome of the talks with US President Donald Trump and the leaders of France, Germany, the UK, and Poland.
In a post on X from a European leadership meeting in Albania, he urged “tough sanctions” against Moscow if it rejects “a full and unconditional ceasefire and an end to killings”.
But a peace deal still hasn’t been agreed, as ITV News International Editor Emma Murphy explains.
