"No one will be spared" : India vows to punish Kashmir attackers as tensions rise with Pakistan
Indian Interior Minister said on Thursday that those responsible for last week’s deadly Kashmir attack would not be spared, vowing to eradicate militancy from “every inch” of the country.
Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, underlined that “Pakistan does not seek escalation” and added that “At the same time, we are fully prepared to defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Villagers living in Indian Kashmir along the line of control with Pakistan said they felt caught in the line of fire as tensions rise between New Delhi and Islamabad. Another resident of a village along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan said he was not fearful despite rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Meanwhile, Pakistani locals said the nation was “united” and added, “Not only our army but our people and all political parties will fight them gallantly.”
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that Washington hoped Pakistan would cooperate with India to hunt down Pakistan-based militants and hopes that India’s response to the recent Islamist militant attack in India-administered Kashmir does not lead to a broader regional conflict.
