North Korea detains three shipyard officials following disastrous naval ship launch
North Korean authorities have detained three shipyard officials following the embarrassing failed launch of a naval destroyer.
During its launch ceremony last Wednesday, the ship was heavily damaged, which was attended by dictator Kim Jong Un.
Following the disastrous launch, the North Korean leader stated the accident was caused by criminal negligence, according to state media.
Recent images of the ship, still lying in the northeastern port of Chongjin, show it seemingly covered with a blue tarp.
The official Korean Central News Agency reported that the chief engineer, head of the hull construction workshop, and a deputy manager have been arrested.
