Oldest Post Office Scandal victim: 'still no justice' after 25 years | ITV News
92-year-old Betty, the oldest victim of the Post Office Scandal, lost £100,00 life savings.
Between 1999 and 2015 over 900 subpostmasters were convicted of theft and fraud and accused of miscounting money, which was actually the result of a faulty Horizon IT software. The issue was brought to the public and government’s attention recently in the ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
Survivors of the scandal have experienced deep trauma and can be left feeling re-victimised, according to a new study by the University of Exeter and University College London (UCL). There have since been calls for the Post Office to pay for therapy and mental health treatment for sub-postmasters and their families.
