PCEA church wants Ruto to stop seeking foreign funds
The Presbyterian Church of East Africa is tonight asking President William Ruto to cease and desist from any further borrowing in the name of resources for development, saying this stands to further worsen an already dire situation for Kenyans, already reeling from a heavy debt burden
In a statement made in Meru, the church through its moderator, rev. Thegu Mutahi called for an audit of the existing debts that continue to hold the country’s economy in a chokehold, despite efforts by past and present administrations to steer clear of borrowing in actualizing development.
The call, comes hours after President William Ruto wound up his state visit to China where billions were bagged for various development projects. The PCEA moderator is asking the president to prioritize the fight against graft, a vice the church says hemorrhages most of the resources, set aside for development.
