Phased withdrawal of SANDF troops from DRC
The process to withdraw the SADC mission in the Eastern DRC has commenced.
Defence and Military Veterans Minister Angie Motshekga alongside the generals from the SANDF briefed the media in Pretoria.
They also revealed that the movement has already started by road from Goma via Rwanda to Tanzania.
In March, SADC leaders held a virtual meeting where they decided to pull out the troops to allow warring parties to have an inclusive dialogue.
According to the defence forces plan, most of the personnel will be nearly complete in South Africa by the end of May.
