Poilievre reveals Conservative election platform promising 70% deficit reduction, 15% income tax cut
Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre on Tuesday released his party’s election platform, with a promise to cut the deficit “by 70 per cent” while simultaneously lowering income taxes by 15 per cent.
Poilievre said a Conservative government would cut the deficit by “cutting back on bureaucracy, consultants, foreign aid to dictators, terrorists, and global bureaucracies, slashing money for special interests, and unleashing a half-trillion dollars of extra economic growth by unlocking the power of our resources and home-building.”
“Canadians have been pinching their pennies long enough. It’s time for government to start pinching pennies,” Poilievre said.
The Conservative plan comes after the Liberals and the NDP both released their platforms over the weekend.
