Pope Francis has been praised as a champion of the poor, the marginalized and left an indelible mark in the Catholic Church. His funeral has been held at the Vatican City. Pope Francis was elected Pope on March 13, 2013. Applause rang out as the coffin was brought out of St. Peter’s Basilica. Leaders from more than 150 countries attended the historic occasion.
