Pope Leo XIV to face challenges of 'maintaining unity and diversity' in Catholic Church
Adjunct Professor Susan Pascoe discusses her previous work alongside the newly elected Pope Leo XIV.
Cardinal Robert Prevost has made history after being elected as the first North American pope on Friday.
“He said in his address from the balcony that he wanted to listen,” Ms Pascoe told Sky News Australia.
“I genuinely believe that he will do that, having watched him over a month during that Synod assembly.
“There are about 1.4 billion Catholics in every possible context in the world, quite varied cultures.
“Maintaining unity and diversity is a real challenge, and I think that will be a major challenge of Pope Leo XIV.”
