Portugal was ‘highly dependent’ on Spain prior to widespread blackouts
SMR Nuclear Technology Technical Director Tony Irwin discusses how Portugal was “highly dependent” on Spain for power during the dual-country blackout.
“Looking at Portugal just before the incident, Portugal had 44 per cent solar, 22 per cent wind and 40 per cent import from Spain,” Mr Irwin said.
“So they were highly dependent on Spain for the stability of their system.”
