पश्चिम बंगाल में आखिरी बार 29 जून 1971 को राष्ट्रपति शासन लगा था. अब तक 4 बार राष्ट्रपति शासन लग चुका है. कोलकाता कांड के बाद देश भर में जारी प्रदर्शनों और राष्ट्रपति के इस मामले पर पीड़ा जताते के बाद कहा जा रहा है कि बीजेपी, बंगाल में वो कर सकती है, जो कभी कांग्रेस अपने लंबे राज के दौरान जब चाहती थी कर देती थी.
The last time President’s rule was imposed in West Bengal was on 29 June 1971. So far, President’s rule has been imposed four times. After the protests going on across the country after the Kolkata incident and the President expressing his pain over this matter, it is being said that BJP can do that in Bengal It can do in Bengal what the Congress used to do whenever it wanted during its long rule.
