Republican Senator backs Jerome Powell following Trump’s criticism
Republican Senator John Kennedy has thrown his support behind the US central bank boss by saying Jerome Powell has “tiger blood” and isn’t going anywhere.
This comes after US President Donald Trump hinted at firing Mr Powell, adding the US Federal Reserve should have lowered rates already.
“I just think it’s the kind of thing that Trump likes to say, but I just don’t think it’s a reality given what the lesson he was taught by the bond market when he came out with those excessive tariffs on China,” The Switzer Report Founder Peter Switzer told Sky News Australia.
