Rory McIlroy: I wish I'd learned to handle the burden sooner
Rory McIlroy has spoken of his relief of easing the “burden” of finally winning his career Grand Slam.
The world number two won the US Masters on Sunday evening after his 11th attempt with a victory over Justin Rose in Augusta.
“The burden of what I carry, the baggage into this tournament every year, to be able to shed that, is amazing,” he told Sky Sports Golf.
“It’s been a lot, coming in here, being the centre of attention, and not in a good way, but in a pressure-packed way.
“So, I think each and every year I’ve learnt how to handle that burden a little bit better, and I wish I had done it sooner.”
