Russia and Ukraine to immediately start ceasefire negotiations following Trump’s call with Putin
US President Donald Trump has confirmed Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin ceasefire negotiations after a two-hour phone call with Vladimir Putin.
The American leader has commented on the tone of the conversation, adding he has informed Ukraine of the outcome.
President Trump posted on Truth Social: “Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a ceasefire and, more importantly, an end to the war … The Vatican, as represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested in hosting the negotiations.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the conversation as “informative” and “frank”.
According to Russian state media, he says Russia will “offer and is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a possible future peace agreement”.
