Russia, Ukraine agree to exchange 1000 prisoners during peace talks in Turkey
Delegations from Moscow and Kyiv met with U.S. and Turkish officials in Istanbul Friday for negotiations on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
After Russian President Vladimir Putin failed to show face Thursday, ahead of the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy backed out and sent a portion of his own delegation.
Despite the hiccup, Russian delegation head Vladimir Medinsky said his side was “satisfied with the result” of the negotiations, revealing that the countries will exchange 1,000 POWs in “the coming days.”
While Ukraine has pushed for a meeting between the leaders of the states and an immediate ceasefire, Medinsky said they are considering the meeting and that “each side will present its vision of possible future ceasefire.”
