SA Navy | More resources are needed
The South African Defence Force says more resources are needed to adequately fight maritime threats. This after the SA Navy saw the handing over and naming of the third of its multi-mission inshore patrol vessels, the SAS Adam Kok the third, at the Salisbury Island Naval base in Durban.
The first vessel named SAS King Sekhukhune the first, was commissioned in June 2022 followed by the SAS King Shaka Zulu in October 2023. The three multi-mission inshore patrol vessels were built in South Africa. The military says these vessels were acquired to replace the aged and obsolete Warrior Class Strike Crafts and will form part of the Warrior Class vessels.
