Sir Kier Starmer makes a speech in Bedfordshire after the first local election results
Sir Keir Starmer is making his first public appearance since the first results from this set of local elections.
It has been a mixed night for Labour – they held on to the three mayoralties they were defending, but lost the Runcorn and Helsby parliamentary by-election to Reform UK by just six votes.
The visit, to a defence contractor in Bedfordshire, is to promote the fact that hundreds of highly skilled jobs are being supported by the RAF’s new “cutting-edge UK made drones”, known as ‘StormShroud’, which come into operation today.
