There are concerns that former Victorian Liberal leader John Pesutto will be bankrupted after being ordered to pay costs of $2.3 million after losing his defamation battle with Moira Deeming.
Some of John Pesutto’s supporters are donating to him in an effort to protect him from bankruptcy. Bankrupts are disqualified from state parliament. If Mr Pesutto is forced from parliament, there is no guarantee the Liberals will retain his seat of Hawthorn.
