Although China and the U.S. have agreed to slash tariffs by 115 percent (including 91 percent removed and 24 percent suspended for 90 days), the home appliance industry still faces steep duties – a legacy of earlier Trump-era measures and new levies tied to the fentanyl issue. In the southern city of Zhongshan, one company has been the country’s top refrigerator exporter for 15 years in a row. It’s also doubling down on contract manufacturing with confidence. In an interview with CGTN, Homa Applicance’s CEO Michael Yao explains how the company is navigating these times.
