Temperatures could reach 30C today as UK prepares for hottest day of the year so far
As the UK’s hot spell continues, forecasters say there’s a small chance temperatures could reach 30 Celsius today, which would mean the warmest ever start to May since records began.
It would be the earliest in the calendar year that temperatures have been that high on record (the previous earliest date was 12 May 1945). May temperatures have only exceeded 30C eight times since records began, mostly near the end of the month.
