Because if a wounded soldier dies in an attack, the government may not pay any compensation to the relatives at all.<br />"If a person goes missing, the family doesn't get paid. You need a body to prove it, and if there's no body, then that's it, sorry, goodbye," a Russian deserter told CNN.<br />As Gambling concludes, from a Western perspective, sending soldiers on crutches into an attack where they face almost certain death may not make sense.<br />"But for a state that does not value human life, it is different. A seriously wounded soldier who is entitled to compensation is a burden.
