Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney faces two major hurdles – responding to the threats and false claims by U.S. President Donald Trump, and resetting the Liberal Party’s strained relationship with Alberta. Carney is expected to meet Trump in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, and ahead of that meeting, Trump repeated his 51st state threat but said military force is not on the table. Heather Yourex-West reports.
Israel’s cabinet is set to vote on whether to intensify its military operations in Gaza. The military says it has already begun calling up tens of thousands of army reservists to join and expand its war effort. The move is aimed at ramping up pressure on Hamas to release the remaining hostages. But as Candice Cole reports, the move follows growing outrage over Israel’s long-lasting blockade of the Gaza Strip.
