‘Total reset’: US and China slash tariffs as the two nations agree to a 90-day pause
A breakthrough has been made in the trade war between the US and China after two days of negotiations.
Both nations have agreed to a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs as well as reducing the levies by 115 per cent.
“The talks in Geneva were very friendly, the relationship is very good – we’re not looking to hurt China, China is being hurt very badly,” US President Donald Trump said.
He said he would talk to Chinese President Xi Jinping potentially “at the end of the week”.
President Trump claims a bigger deal was on offer, but China withdrew from it at the last minute.
