Trump eager to land a win as US-China trade talks set to begin in Switzerland
U.S. President Donald Trump floated the possibility of cutting tariffs on China to 80 per cent ahead of a weekend meeting, as he looks to de-escalate the trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
Top U.S. officials are set to meet with a high-level Chinese delegation in Switzerland in the first major talks between the two nations since Trump sparked a trade war with stiff tariffs on imports.
The dispute has already wreaked havoc on markets and the supply chain and Trump appears dead set on getting a win.
