US President Donald Trump has met with new Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa alongside Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. Mr Trump described the leader of the uprising which toppled the Assad regime as an ‘attractive’ and ‘tough guy’. The US leader said Mr al-Sharaa ‘had a real shot at pulling it together’ after the White House abolished crippling sanctions on the Middle Eastern nation. The US president also secured a suite of deals with Qatar including a $200 billion order for Boeing aeroplanes on his Middle East tour.
