Two missed chances to return Zidanku Silk Manuscripts to China
It was in 1946 that the Zidanku Silk Manuscripts ended up in the United States as a result of shady dealing. But arrival on U.S. soil was far from the end of the story. After changing hands a number of times, they became part of the collection of Arthur M. Sackler. So appreciative was Sackler of their value that he sought to have them returned to China but missed two opportunities to do so.
