UK royal family attends Westminster Abbey service to mark 80th anniversary of VE day
Britain’s royal family joined politicians and veterans for a national service of remembrance at London’s Westminster Abbey on Thursday to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
King Charles arrived at the Abbey after members of the royal family, including Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The service was attended by leading politicians, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, a host of former prime ministers, and the few remaining veterans who fought in the Second World War.
The anniversary, which comes at a time of ongoing conflict in Europe, was also marked with events in France and Germany. Moscow will hold its own military parade on Friday.
