The United States and Ukraine have signed an agreement that would give Washington preferential access to Ukraine’s critical minerals, including rare earths and other natural resources. The deal includes the establishment of a joint-investment fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction amid efforts by the Trump administration to secure a ceasefire that could lead to a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. Sherwin Bryce-Pease reports that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called it a “historic economic partnership agreement” between the two countries, “establishing the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund”.
