On April 16, railway infrastructure was set on fire in occupied Melitopol — ammunition, fuel and other military supplies are delivered to the front near Rabotino and Kamenskoye through this city. And on April 13, a Russian tank was set on fire in the Donetsk region.<br /><br />The pro-Ukrainian underground movement "Atesh" claimed responsibility for all three attacks on Telegram. This is further evidence that Ukrainian "operatives" in the temporarily occupied territories are acting more actively and effectively, writes Foreign Policy .<br /><br />Their goal is to destabilize the "war machine" of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin by destroying infrastructure, eliminating officers and distracting occupation forces.<br /><br />"Almost every other day, an act of sabotage is committed by forces supporting Ukraine," Yuriy Matsiyaevsky, a professor at the National University of Ostroh Academy who studies Ukrainian resistance, told the publication.<br /><br />He noted that murders, ambushes, arson, poisoning, kidnapping and explosions of communications and energy facilities are being used. "Despite the fact that Russian control is increasing, the Ukrainian underground is constantly exerting pressure. It is making it difficult for Russia to communicate, move people and supply the front," the expert emphasized.<br /><br />Matsiyaevsky is confident that even if a ceasefire is reached, in which these territories will continue to be occupied by Russia, the resistance will continue. It is reported that recognizing the occupiers' control over Ukrainian regions does not change the reality on the ground for the citizens themselves, so the resistance will continue - either until these territories are liberated, or, as in the case of western Ukraine in 1939, until it is suppressed by force.<br /><br />"This is a guerrilla war that Ukrainians have known since World War II," says Vladimir Zhemchugov, an agent with the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and an active participant in the Luhansk underground after Russia's 2014 invasion of the Donbas.
