Uppsala shooting: 16-year-old suspect arrested after 3 killed at hair salon in Sweden
Swedish police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect after a gunman opened fire at a hair salon in central Uppsala on Tuesday.
Three people, aged 15 to 20, were shot and killed just as Uppsala, a university town 40 minutes north of Stockholm, was gearing up for Walpurgis night, one of the busiest holidays in the city.
Police told reporters on Wednesday that it was too early to say if the shooting was gang related but that several people were being interrogated as part of the investigation.
Sweden has suffered from a wave of gang-related violence for more than a decade and has more than 2.5 times the number of gun-related deaths than the EU average.
