US and Ukraine sign long-awaited minerals deal
The United States and Ukraine have signed a long-awaited minerals deal, aimed at incentivising US investment in Kyiv’s defence and reconstruction.
The deal comes after earlier talks appeared to stall following a tense exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House.
However, during a meeting at Pope Francis’s funeral, President Zelensky reportedly convinced President Trump to move forward with the agreement.
