Truman into the Red Sea, the US Navy reported.<br />"The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman lost an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 136 and a tow tractor during carrier operations in the Red Sea," the statement said.<br />It is noted that all crew members have been found. Only one sailor was injured.<br />According to the US Navy, the crew of the F/A-18E Super Hornet was towing the fighter to a hangar when they failed and lost control of the aircraft. As a result, the F/A-18E Super Hornet and the tow vehicle ended up in the sea.<br />The sailors who were towing the plane managed to move away from it before it fell overboard. Another official said the plane sank.<br />The carrier strike group is deployed to the Middle East. It’s not clear what contributed to the crew members losing control of the aircraft aboard the carrier, which has previously been targeted by the Houthis. According to a U.S. official, initial field reports suggest a sudden movement of the carrier due to Houthi fire might have been a factor in the incident.<br />But those reports remained unconfirmed while the investigation plays out.<br />The Truman carrier was involved in another incident earlier this year when it collided with a merchant ship near the Suez Canal.
