US is “moving at Trump speed” to make dozens of trade deals "this week alone": White House
When asked about the progress of potential trade deals with the U.S., White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that the administration was “moving at Trump speed” to ensure deals with 34 different countries “this week alone” would be made.
“We now have 18 proposals on paper that have been brought to the trade team,” Leavitt assured reporters.
Speaking on China specifically – where tensions remain high – the Republican representative said the Trump administration is “setting the stage for a deal” and that “the ball is moving in the right direction.”
Earlier in the month, Beijing raised tariffs on incoming American goods to 125 per cent — up from 84 per cent — inching closer to the 145 per cent levies President Donald Trump had imposed on Chinese-made goods.
