The situation in the Middle East continues to escalate. Amid Houthi attacks on Israeli military facilities, as well as US Navy aircraft carriers in the Red Sea, the Western coalition appears to have decided not to limit itself to bombing Yemen and is preparing a major operation against the rebels.
Military experts have drawn attention to a number of indirect signs indicating that the countdown of the operation against the Houthis has probably already begun.
In their opinion, the first thing that may indicate preparations for the mission is that the US military has redeployed two Boeing E-3B Sentry strategic airborne early warning aircraft to Saudi Arabia.
The airborne command posts, capable of coordinating large-scale combat operations, were initially headed toward Israel but eventually landed in Riyadh.
In addition, the British aircraft carrier Prince of Wales left the base in Portsmouth yesterday, heading for combat duty. Where exactly is not reported. But some experts assume that the ship is heading to the Red Sea.
Finally, the Suffren-class multipurpose nuclear submarine left Toulon. Given the above-mentioned events, experts do not rule out that it will also take part in the upcoming operation.
As for the Houthis, they are not “sleeping” either. In response, the rebels are pulling together missile complexes and Drones toward Dammam province, threatening the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, which is patrolling the Gulf of Aden.
Recall that earlier this month, the Yemeni group twice announced attacks on the American aircraft carriers USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson in the Red Sea. As America’s escalated bombing campaign and economic sanctions hit Yemen hard, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Washington’s crosshairs are trying to mine the situation for propaganda and recruitment, analysts have said. The Houthis held their fire when a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas in January 2025. By that point, they had fired some 40 ballistic missiles and several attack drones at Israel, including one that killed a civilian and wounded several others in Tel Aviv in July 2024. Israel carried out several strikes on Houthi sites in Yemen in response to the attacks. Meanwhile, Washington is strangling the rebels financially, sanctioning banks and hitting infrastructure like the Ras Issa fuel terminal — a vital source of energy and funds for the Houthis’ precarious economy.
