VE Day: UK, royals mark 80 years since Nazi Germany's surrender in WW2
A crowd of tens of thousands gathered outside Buckingham Palace on Monday to celebrate Victory Europe Day (VE Day), marking the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s surrender to the allied forces and the end of the Second World War.
The celebrations included a recreation of late prime minister Winston Churchill’s victory speech — originally delivered May 5, 1945 — by ‘Harry Potter’ actor Timothy Spall.
The Royal family was present as well and could be seen watching the annual flypast from the palace balcony.
A massive military parade featured a small group of Ukrainian soldiers, as they continue to defend their nation against Russia’s armed forces.
