Victoria’s under-18s free public transport scheme to cost taxpayers $318 million
Children under the age of 18 will ride free on all Victorian public transport from next year.
The cost-of-living policy will be the heart of Treasurer Jaclyn Symes’ first budget on Tuesday, saving families hundreds of dollars.
The policy will start from January 1 next year, and under-18s will need to carry a special myki card to participate in the scheme, costing taxpayers $318 million.
