Volodymyr Zelensky meets with JD Vance in Rome ahead of Trump’s call with Putin
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Vice President JD Vance have met in Rome.
This comes after Mr Zelensky and Mr Vance first met at the White House earlier this year, where the pair had a heated clash over the future of the war in Ukraine.
Media in Ukraine say the meeting lasted close to an hour, with Mr Zelensky reaffirming “Ukraine is ready to engage in real diplomacy”.
The meeting between the two comes ahead of US President Donald Trump’s call with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
