What comes after Pope Francis' death?
The Catholic Church is facing a crossroads moment in choosing a successor to Pope Francis, with a question for the 136 cardinals due to arrive in Rome soon for a conclave, the ancient ritual of deciding the next pope. NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson told a special edition of the “TODAY” show this morning, “I think what you will see is the church struggle with what the future should be,” she said. “Are they going to continue down the same path as Francis, as far as opening the doors of the church wide to welcome everybody in, to acknowledge everyone as the sinner, or are they going to close those doors and make it more narrow and go back to the, as you know, go back to strict doctrine?”
