Who is pope Leo XIV? | ITV News
Pope Robert Prevost is the first ever American to be elected as the new head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Aged 69 years, he was born in Chicago and speaks Spanish as well as English after his missionary service in Peru. He will go by the name of Leo XIV.
His first address to the crowd in Rome was a message of peace and a united world. From the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican he said: “Peace be with you.”
