Workers await tabling of new budget
The country’s labour formations say it’s a difficult time for public sector employees to mark Workers’ Day without an approved budget to cater for their needs and improve their workplaces. But some labour unions are more optimistic that the revised budget to be presented, will address the plights of the country’s civil servants. COSATU, the largest of the country’s three main trade union federations, says the rise in the costs of living, has taken a heavy toll on public servants and their families. Despite the recent remarkable decline in inflation – workers say many of their demands have fallen on deaf ears.
