Pope Francis’s body was brought to St Peter’s Basilica ahead of his state funeral.
The funeral procession began at Casa Santa Marta, where Pope Francis had lived.
Large crowds gathered in the square, watching on giant screens outside.
Pope Francis’s body is now inside St Peter’s Basilica, where he will be lying in state until his funeral on Saturday.
